Family day

Saturday 17th august

Family Day is our conference-within-a-conference for parents and carers of children who stammer - and for the children themselves.

There will be activities where children can meet other children, and feel normal.

Plus, there'll be sessions for parents and carers, where they can meet other parents, ask questions and explore what it is like to have a child who stammers.

Family  programme

Saturday 17th

Children & Young People

In the morning there will be sessions for children and young people. They'll attend 2-3 different activities with others of a similar age with breaks for refreshments in-between. Sessions can range from making fun TikTok-style videos to circus skills or building playdough sculptures.

Parents & Guardians

For parents and guardians there will be a series of short talks, question and answer sessions and time to meet with others and discuss what it is like to have a child who stammers. Supporting the sessions will be specialist speech and language therapists and adults who stammer (some speech and language therapists may also stammer, and may also have children who stammer).

Afternoon

After lunch families are welcome to join in the main conference and take part in some of our family-friendly workshops and events. Depending on the age and needs of your child, you can attend just the morning of Family Day or stay for the afternoon workshops as well.

Lunch and refreshments are included within the Family Day ticket.

*Note that all children and young people attending the Family Day events must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
