Catherine Woolley, STAMMA's Children and Families Programme Lead, explains what we've got in store at STAMMAFest Global's Family Day on Saturday 27th August.

When you are a child or young person who stammers, it's easy to think you are the only person who talks the way you do. For some, it can be a long time before they meet another person who stammers. We know this can leave children and their families feeling lonely or isolated.
To combat this, at STAMMAFest Global we're throwing open the doors to children and young people who stammer and are having a Family Day for ages 5-15, plus parents and guardians.
Our aim is to give you the chance to meet other young people and parents just like you and share your stories and experiences.
Throughout the morning we'll have a range of activities for three different age groups, designed to explore stammering, gain confidence when talking to other people and make new friends. Our friendly volunteers will be there to guide you throughout the day and give you a little extra help expressing yourself, if you need it.
The Family Day at our last conference back in 2018 was inspirational. We loved seeing children and teenagers get the chance to meet others who stammer for the first time — not only other young people like themselves, but doctors and lawyers, teachers and actors. This year we have even more incredible people who stammer coming to our conference and we can't wait for you to meet and hear from them.
Parents & Guardians
We know it can feel confusing when you're the parent or guardian of a child who stammers. At the Family Day there'll be specially designed talks and peer support sessions where you can learn more about stammering and how best to support your child. You can also explore our main conference, where you'll get the chance to discuss your experiences and maybe find the answers to questions you didn't even know you had.

So What are You Waiting For?
Thanks to some generous grants, we are pleased to offer our Family Day tickets at a significantly reduced price of £10 per child and £15 per adult for the day, including lunch. Book your Family Day tickets now or get more information.
With your ticket you'll get the chance to spend time in our hub enjoying fun games and activities, before joining our main conference to experience a range of family friendly talks throughout the afternoon.
And who knows, maybe you'll meet someone who talks just like you!
