Venue

Is car parking available on site?


There are two pay and display visitor car parks on the city centre campus. Spaces are limited and are offered on a first come, first serve basis.





Attendance

Can children attend?


We are planning activities for families on Saturday 27th August which will include events suitable for children on that day. Register your interest to be kept up to date as we announce more details later in 2021.




Who is STAMMAFest Global for?


STAMMAFest Global will have something for everyone! Take a look at our Is it for me page for more information, but we want everyone to feel welcome at STAMMAFest Global!




How much will the conference be to attend?


Prices will be announced as soon as we can but we are working hard to ensure the conference is amazing value for money.




Do you offer student discount/ concession prices?


The STAMMAFest Global team is currently looking at prices and we are committed to keeping costs as low as we can for everyone, while still providing a high quality conference. All delegate pricing options will be listed on our website when they are finalised, including any discounts we are able to offer for concessions.




How do I get there?


Road - From the M62: at the end of the motorway continue straight ahead onto Edge Lane (A5080 then A5047) and follow signs for Liverpool City Centre and the University. Postcode for sat nav or online directions: L3 5TR Rail - The Campus is a ten minute walk from the nearest mainline station at Lime Street. Take the main exit and turn left into Lime Street. Then turn left again at the Britannia Adelphi Hotel and continue up Brownlow Hill towards the Metropolitan Catholic Cathedral and Red Brick Building with its clock tower. Coach - he National Express coach station is in Liverpool One Bus Station, Canning Place, Liverpool, L1 8JX, a 18 minute walk from the Campus. From the bus station walk along Hanover Street, pass Liverpool Central Train Station. Cross Renshaw street onto Brownlow Hill and head towards the Metropolitan Catholic Cathedral. Air - Liverpool John Lennon Airport is eight miles from the city and is best reached by taxi or the express bus, directly outside the entrance to the airport terminal. You can also get buses 500, 86, 80A and 82A to Liverpool city centre.

I want to run a workshop! How can I register to do this?


We will open submissions for workshops and presentation proposals in the autumn. Keep an eye on the Programme page to see the types of presentations we are looking for and register your interest to be the first to hear when the submissions process goes live.




Who are the keynote speakers going to be?


We are planning an amazing line up of presentations and workshops, including amazing keynote speakers and panels. See the Programme page for details as they are confirmed and register your interest to be the first to hear as we announce keynote speakers as we confirm them.




What social events are on offer?


Watch this space! We are planning a full range of social activities ranging from a tour of Liverpool to a pub quiz with a fish and chip supper! What is the process for determining conference submissions acceptance?


The submissions process is currently being finalised. When we open to submissions we will explain the process on the website. We expect there will be more submissions for workshops and presentations than we have space for on the programme, so we are committed to assessing all submissions fairly to ensure we offer a really high standard of exciting, varied presentations and workshops at STAMMAFest Global. We plan to use an anonymous reviewing system to ensure all submissions are considered fairly




Will the educational sessions be available online after Conference


We are currently looking into options for streaming and recording some conference sessions. A decision will be made once we have established the financial implications of recording / streaming sessions (as this will have an impact on ticket prices for attendees).




Will content be available for additional purchase in-full or on a session-by-session basis?


Once registration for the conference opens, you will be able to register for the whole congress or separate days. See the registration page for more information (once registration launches)




What technology will be used during the conference?


Presenters will be expected to bring their own laptops to the conference but the venue will provide wifi, projectors and microphones.

What format do the sessions take?


To an extent, this depends on what is submitted be would-be presenters, but we are planning a mix of large audience plenary sessions / keynote speakers, smaller workshops and presentations as well as conference favourites such as open mics and social events.




Can I ask questions during sessions?


Your questions and comments are a valuable part of this conference. Some speakers may invite input during the session, some towards the end. It is expected that most sessions will allow some time for questions or comments at some point during the session.




Do I need to sign up for individual sessions or workshops after I register for the conference?


No, you can just go along to any session that interests you. In the unlikely event of an individual session having a limit on number of participants, this will be made clear on the programme with details of how to sign up.





Accommodation

Is accommodation included in the price?


Accommodation is available at the university and you will be able to book this directly with them. People will also have the option to arrange their own accommodation with local hotels and airbnb etc.

Are the venue / accommodation accessible?


The venue is fully accessible. There are a limited number of accessible bedrooms available that we have reserved for conference attendees. These are very close to the conference venue. We can also support anyone with advice about accessible rooms in local hotels if people want to stay elsewhere.

Booking Accommodation


This needs to be done separately. You can book university accommodation …. Each room has a single bed, is en suite, with access to a communal kitchen. If you don’t want to stay on campus you don’t have to.




Are left luggage facilities available?


We anticipate that most conference attendees will be staying locally either in the university accommodation or in local hotels / Airbnb facilities. You can ask about left luggage options at your accommodation.





General

Have you got a plan if Covid means STAMMAFest Global can’t go ahead in person?


We are really looking forward to holding STAMMAFest Global in Liverpool. We are keeping up to date with news about the pandemic and will build in health and safety measures (e.g. hand sanitiser stations) as needed. If necessary, we will look to move STAMMAFest Global online.




Can I get involved with StammaFest Global?


Of course! We would love it if you want to get involved! If you’re interested in volunteering or sponsorship for STAMMAFest Global, please contact us.




Will there be food available onsite?


The delegate ticket price for each day includes a midday meal and tea break refreshments. The University has food outlets on site and there are plenty of options to buy food at a variety of outlets near to the conference venue.




Does STAMMA plan on making a profit from STAMMAFest Global?


The plan is to break even. Any profits made from STAMMAFest Global will be reinvested into STAMMA, but these are likely to be marginal




Why a party on Saturday night rather than a formal dinner?


Keeping with the festival theme of STAMMAFest Global, we want a lively evening get together where attendees can mingle freely across the course of the evening. After all the isolation over the last couple of years due to Covid, we thought it would be nicer for everyone to be able to mix rather than sitting at one table all night. The informal nature of our Saturday night event also offers a more affordable option for attendees.




What is included in the Saturday night party ticket?


The ticket includes food, entertainment and a drink allowance (tbc).




Can I buy tickets for my partner or friend for the conference and/or social events?


Yes, although there are age restrictions for the conference and events, see below.




What about breakfast


Breakfast is included with the university accommodation. Lunch and refreshments are included in the conference ticket.




Do I have to be a member to register for STAMMAFest Global?


No, you don’t have to be a member of STAMMA to register to attend the conference. Everyone is welcome, just visit our registration page to see how to register




Do I have to register to attend a conference event?


Yes, you will only be able to attend the conference, in whole or in part, if you have registered. You can register for the whole event or for different days. See the registration page for details.




Are there networking events?


Yes, lots! There’ll be plenty of opportunity to network during the evening social events, breaks between sessions, over the breakfast table, and within some specific sessions. See the programme for details (when it is finalised




Can I get a discount for registering early?


When registration opens prices will be stated clearly, including any discounts we are able to offer.




Will I get a refund if I decide not to attend?


Once registration opens, we will specify our refund policy which is presently still under discussion.




What type of people should I expect to meet and hear from at the event?


You’ll meet people from all walks of life, and from many different jobs, professions, and nationalities. There will be people who stammer, their friends and families, speech and language therapists, researchers, stammering activists – all with the common bond of an interest in stammering.




What’s the dress code for the conference?


Come dressed in what makes you feel good! You might want a change for the evenings.
